CNC Turning Bristol: Better Cutting Technology To Debut In October

According to a recent announcement, a brand new cutting technology will be introduced to CNC turning Bristol professionals at the Central to Citizen’s Open House, which will run from the 11th to the 13th of October, 2016. This new cutting technology, which will be demonstrated in the UK for the first time at the upcoming Open House in Watford, is said to be able to both increase cutting performance and create gains via improvements in chip flow and control. This, in turn, will extend tool life and allow CNC turning Bristol professionals like Cam Machine  to manufacture products with a better level of surface finish. In short, CNC machinists will be able to cut more precisely and more efficiently, with lower overhead thanks to reduced tool replacement costs.

This new cutting technology, which is known as Low-Frequency Vibration (LFV) technology, is also more flexible than the cutting technology that CNC shops are used to dealing with. Unlike conventional cutting technology, LFV can be programmed at any point during the production cycle.

How does LFV technology cut so precisely? According to machinist, writer, and CNC expert Will Dalrymple, ‘The process initiates the servo axes of the machine to vibrate in the direction of feed which causes the swarf generated to be finely fragmented into smaller more controllable chips.’

During the Central to Citizen’s Open House, this revolutionary new cutting technology will be demonstrated on Citizen’s premiere sliding head turn-mill, the L20-VIII CNC centre. Additionally, visitors to the Open House will be able to see a range of other high-performance cutting demonstrations, such as the automatic loading of pre-cut bar lengths that is to be shown on a Citizen L12 machine. Hard turning and camshaft machining operations will also be exhibited on the dozen different turn-mill centres that are slated for operation during the Open House.

In addition to Citizen’s own CNC machines, machines from Miyano will also be on display, notably the recent sixth generation BNJ-51SY6, the 7-axis BNE-51MSY, the Y-axis main BNA-42DHY2, and the GN3200, with its four-axis, duplex spindle arrangement lathe. For CNC businesses looking to invest in new turning and lathing equipment, the Open House will no doubt therefore be one of the ‘must see’ events of 2016.

The Benefits Of Workshops And Events For CNC Turning Bristol Professionals

If you are a Bristol-based CNC machinist, the October Open House is well worth a drive to Watford; not only will attendees be allowed to bring their own workpieces in order to gain a first-hand understanding of how LFV technology can create a cleaner, better cut, workshops, and open houses are a valuable opportunity for CNC professionals to network. CNC machinists who attend open events can share knowledge and ideas, discuss financing plans for new equipment in a ‘face to face’ manner, and generally get inspired to innovate. The informal atmosphere of the Open House provides an excellent opportunity to ‘talk shop,’ partake in friendly competition, and of course, enjoy the renowned traditional Citizen Open House curry evening on Wednesday, October the 13th, when visiting hours will be extended to 21:30.
